
Bursa City Museum stands behind the Atatürk Statue in the former courthouse at the heart of the city. Turkey’s first city museum presents 7,000 years of Bursa’s history, geography, daily life, economy and architecture through objects and reconstructions.

Ground Floor: Bursa, the City of Civilizations (History Gallery)
The historical process, starting from the first settlements in the Bursa region and covering the Bithynians, Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman periods, is exhibited. There are busts and information of statesmen, scientists and artists who grew up in Bursa or left their mark on the city.


First Floor: Contemporary Bursa and Life Culture
The museum explains Bursa’s social and architectural changes during the Republican period. Models and interactive displays introduce the city’s Kılıç Kalkan sword-and-shield dance, Karagöz and Hacivat shadow theatre, traditional weddings, cuisine and everyday life.
Basement Floor: Historical Bazaar and Tradesmen Street (Reenactments)
The basement features a life-size reconstruction of Bursa’s old bazaar. Shops and wax figures representing carpenters, coppersmiths, cutlers, silk merchants, shoemakers and towel makers bring the period to life.
